The name

Where the name comes from.

FOV: field of view

In 3D painting, the camera isn't just how you look at the model; it's how your strokes land on it. The viewport is the brush. Fovenne is built so that what you see is exactly what reaches the surface.

The fovea

The small pit at the center of the retina where vision is at its sharpest and nearly all color perception lives.

Fovēre

Latin: to keep warm, to cherish, to nurture. The word Romans used for tending a fire, or fostering a talent. The way you hold a thing you're making by hand.

Questions

Common questions

What is Fovenne?
One offline app for hand-painted art: painting and concept work, 2D animation, and 3D texturing, on macOS and Windows.
Is it really offline, with no telemetry?
Yes. Fovenne never connects to the internet, collects nothing, and sends nothing to anyone. Your work and your data never leave your machine.
How much does it cost?
$20 CAD for the first two weeks after launch, $30 after that. You pay once. Updates are free, there's no upgrade tier, and nothing expires. I think $30 is an honest price.
What platforms does it run on?
macOS and Windows.
Can I open my files anywhere else?
A .fvn project is a plain, browsable folder you can inspect by hand. Export to PNG, JPEG, or TGA, plus sprite sheets, PNG sequences, GIF, and APNG for animation. Your work stays yours.
When does Fovenne launch?
Tuesday, July 14, 2026. See the countdown below. Leave your email and you'll get one message the moment it's out, with your $20 founder price.
Who makes Fovenne?
Me, Najim Filali Saksak, under my studio The Souk Galaxy. I design and build it myself; Myriam runs everything around it.
